Early Life and Militancy
Samir Kuntar, a Lebanese Druze, was born into an affluent family.

At a young age of 13, he joined the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a left-wing terrorist group, out of sympathy for Palestinian refugees. Kuntar actively participated in PFLP training exercises, expressing enjoyment in handling Kalashnikov rifles.
He dropped out of school at 14.
Raid on Nahariya
In 1979, at the age of 16, Kuntar and three fellow militants infiltrated Israel from Lebanon in a rubber boat. They landed near the town of Nahariya and immediately killed a 24-year-old policeman, Eliyahu Shachar.
